The Top 10 FAQ's at Tropical Island Rentals

 

Owner/House manager

 

1.  How do I register my property?  

Simply click on either the ‘List Your Property here’ icon at the top right of the home page or click on the ‘Login’ icon.  You then follow the registration process which is adding your personal details and then press the ‘Sign Up’ icon at the bottom of the page.  You will then be able to add your property details.  Please contact us if you have any problems registering your property.

2.  How much does it cost?

To add your holiday property to Tropical Island Rentals, the cost is £120/US$190 per property.  If you are adding between 2-5 properties then the cost is £100/US$160 per property and from between 5-10 properties the cost is £70/US$110 per property.  If you wish to add more than 10 properties then please contact us for an individual price.  We also have a discounted 2 year subscription fee of £200/US$315 per property.

3.  What is included in the price?

Everything!  We do not believe in extras.  You subscription will include all of the following; Up to 12 photos, You Tube video link, Google Map link, link to your own personal website,  unlimited special offers,  a position as a ‘Featured Property’on a rotation basis and ‘Property of the Day’.  For the last feature all you have to do is 'Like' and 'Share' our website on your Facebook page.

4.  How do I pay?

You can pay via our online credit card system, by bank transfer or by cheque.  Please contact us if you wish to pay by bank transfer or by cheque.

5.  Will you fill out my property details for me?

Yes!  We can do it all for you at no extra cost if you prefer.  We will even keep your availability chart updated if you want us to.  All we will need is details of your own property website if you have one and your permission to extract the images from it.  We may need to call/email you to clarify specific points but we will add all the details for you.  You will just need to take all the bookings when they come in.

6.  Can I add past reviews of my property?

Yes you can.  Any reviews you have had up to 18 months before you register can be added.

7.  Who do I contact if I need help?

Just go to our 'Contact us' page on our website and chose one of the options to speak to us.  We aim to respond to all emails within 24 hours but often much sooner than that.

8.  What determines the order in which search results are displayed?

Properties can be searched for by location, property type, number of bedrooms and price.  Alternatively you can just see a list of all the properties on Tropical Island Rentals and they will appear in a list format.

9.  How often do you update your displayed exchange rates?

We look at this on a weekly basis.  The base currency is GBP.

10.  How will I be notified of booking enquiries?

You will be notified by the email address or by the telephone number(s) that you supplied on the registration form.

 

Holidaymaker/ Traveller

 

 1.  What role do Tropical Island Rentals undertake?

At Tropical Island Rentals we offer an advertising space for owners/managers of holiday rentals on tropical islands around the world.  They pay an annual fee to advertise their property and to be able to deal directly with you the holidaymaker.   This means you will deal only with the person who knows the property and the area, the best of anyone.

2.  How do I make a booking?

You simply contact the advertiser directly either by email or by phone.  These details will be on their holiday rental advert.  Tropical Island Rentals are not involved in any of the enquiry/booking process.

3.  Who do I pay?

Once the booking has been confirmed between yourselves and the advertiser, payment is made direct to the advertiser.  Tropical Island Rentals are not involved with the booking and payment process and do not receive any commission on bookings.  The booking and the conditions of rental are between you, the holidaymaker and the advertiser.

4.  What do I do if I haven't heard back from the advertiser?

Firstly check that the email you sent went and to the correct address.  If all correct then we suggest sending a follow up email and a telephone call.  If still no response we suggest you look for an alternative property.

5.  Who do I speak to if I need to cancel my booking?

The advertiser.  In other words the person you made the booking with.  An email or call/voicemail to Tropical Island Rentals is not cancelling your booking.

6.  How can I be sure a property and their advertiser are genuine?

We would always advise that you speak to the advertiser as you can gauge a lot from a simple conversation.  If in any doubt ask for testimonials from previous guests with a contact for them.  We would also recommend that you get the full contact details of the advertiser.  Always ensure that you pay by a secured method.  i.e cheque, bank transfer or by pay pal.  If dealing with the house manager then you may be able to pay by credit card which is always a good option.  Be wary if they ask you to pay to a third party and not direct to them.

 7.  How do I know if a property is available or not?

Click on the ‘Availability’ icon and a calendar will come up with dates highlighted in blue that are booked.  If your dates are not highlighted it doesn’t necessarily mean the property is available as the advertiser may not have had a chance to update the calendar.  Please always check the dates with the advertiser before booking flights etc. 

8.  Who do I get the keys for the holiday rental I have chosen from?

This will need to be decided between you and the advertiser during the booking process.  It is worth an email/telephone call to the advertiser prior to your departure to confirm all these arrangements.

9.  Why do I need to pay a security deposit?

This is very normal and is the easiest way for the owner/manager to cover unexpected costs that might happen whilst you are staying at the property.  For example if you accidently break something at the property, the owner can deduct this from the security deposit and refund the rest to you.  We advise that you get a confirmation email from the advertiser 48/72 hours after your departure to confirm the position of the security deposit so it can be returned to you.

10.  Can I add a review to Tropical Island Rentals after the booking?

Yes you can.  Go to the advertiser’s holiday rental page and click on the ‘Add Review’ icon.  Your comments will be moderated by Tropical Island Rentals and will be added to the site within 24 hours. Owners/Mangers appreciate all constructive feedback.
